1. Description

1.1. Definitions

KITTI and KITTI-360 are web-based services that host datasets and allow users to evaluate and compare research algorithms with the purpose of advancing research for self-driving vehicles. KITTI can be accessed under the web address https://www.cvlibs.net/datasets/kitti/. KITTI-360 can be accessed under the web address https://www.cvlibs.net/datasets/kitti-360/.

1.2. Background

KITTI and KITTI-360 are datasets and benchmarks established at KIT and maintained at the University of Tübingen by Prof. Dr. Andreas Geiger and his research group. The datasets provide recordings of images and LIDAR laser measurements of the experimental self-driving vehicle AnnieWay while driving through and around the city of Karlsruhe, Germany. The datasets are semi-manually annotated with object bounding boxes, geometry, motion and semantics. The datasets may only be used for non-commercial purposes. The respective websites provide evaluation services where researchers may upload the results of their algorithms applied on the test data for which ground truth information is held out. The evaluation results are presented in tabular format on the hosted benchmark websites. Benchmarks include stereo, optical flow, visual odometry, 2D/3D object detection, tracking, monocular depth estimation, semantic segmentation, SLAM and novel view synthesis, amongst others. The results of the evaluation are used for scientific publications to advance the state-of-the-art.

1.3. Data collection, processing and storage duration
